A Heap of Anime Updates Arrived During the Festive Season

The winter break present a plethora of pastimes far superior than scanning the latest news: opening presents, getting stuffed on delicious food, and harnessing meditation skills to avoid snapping at family members. It is wished you were able to accomplish all these things and more. Nevertheless, the entertainment world doesn't take a break, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Many thrilling developments came out over the break, and if you didn't see any, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.

One-Punch Man Its Third Season Is Moving Forward (Come 2027)

Without a doubt the most shocking revelation, the notorious troubled production that was season 3 of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to deter the series' continuation. The show will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they could have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be leading the project. Thankfully this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which is seen as a positive development. But, the promotional image for the new episodes is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This suggests that, at this point, they are probably mocking the fans.

Ruri Dragon Is Set to Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has forged a name for being an top-tier animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the superb artistry of its work but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had never worked on an anime stemming from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it debuted in 2022 after just a few chapters, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it resumed publication with a more relaxed pace, the series demonstrated it hadn't lost the fans' affection and positive sentiment, and now fans are thrilled about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.

As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in development, and it will almost certainly premiere in 2026.

From the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and captivating visual style, which reminds me a bit of Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my list of anticipated shows.
