The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted on Thursday, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Top Game award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's triumph, the talented performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards during the show.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and Best PC Game. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by critics.
