Top-ranked Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Awards.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
