The rising star maintains considerable online following
Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile cheerleaders as she begins her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to a former US president, was granted a special exemption to participate at the Annika tournament in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, operates multiple golf courses and frequently competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she revealed.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, who cannot attend, advised her: "Simply stay calm."
"He essentially advised me to compete and relax," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He won't be there for the tournament. He's occupied with running the country, so he's rather occupied."
As an amateur, Kai has played in just three tournaments this year and holds the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
However she's able to receive tips from Tiger Woods, in a relationship with Vanessa.
"He is the greatest golfer globally," Kai expressed.
"Furthermore, he's an even better human being. He advised me to compete, have fun, adapting to whatever happens."
Kai will face multiple the biggest names in professional golf at this tournament, including second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.
Officials mentioned that involving Kai exposes the sport to wider groups, especially reaching younger fans.
The young star maintains millions of followers and just introduced an exclusive fashion and living company.
She begins at late afternoon GMT.
